Rembrandt Premium Whitening Mint Toothpaste
If you’ve ever had a canker sore, you know how painful they can be – eating, drinking, and even talking can become difficult and stingingly painful! Rembrandt, a dental hygiene product company, offers a special toothpaste called Premium Whitening Mint Toothpaste with Fluoride, Extra Gentle for Canker Sores, that contains non-acidic ingredients that help nullify the pain (and prevent future) canker sores.
This toothpaste (according to online retailer Amazon) is clinically proven to reduce canker sore occurrences by a whopping 80% while simultaneously whitening teeth and preventing cavities. It also has a low-abrasion formula, so it won’t cut or irritate your gums or tongue if you’ve already got a canker sore. In addition, sores have been reported as less painful after brushing with this specialty toothpaste.
Customer reviews raved about this product on Amazon – primarily canker sore sufferers (some used the product and reviewed it in terms of whitening or being gentle on teeth). Almost every user said this toothpaste helped alleviate their canker sores – by either preventing them, helping them resist bursting or further developing, or alleviating their pain while they were present. Most users, impressively, were chronic canker sore sufferers who tried this product and since have seen little or no canker sores. One users said, “Just by changing toothpastes I was able to eliminate my canker sores altogether. If you're suffering at all from canker sores, you really owe it to yourself to at least give this a try!”
In terms of the flavor and the whitening capability, most users were pleased with the whitening capability and one user complained that the flavor (for those with sensitive palates) might be too strong.
You can purchase this toothpaste on Amazon in a 3-pack for $22 USD (most users seemed to like it so much this was the option they chose), or one tube for $6 or 7 USD. This is definitely recommended for chronic canker sore sufferers – to whiten and take away the pain. Try it today!
Tom’s of Maine – Natural Antiplaque Tartar Control Plus Whitening Toothpaste
Tom’s of Maine prides itself on producing natural hygiene products, including soaps, toothpastes, deodorants, and flosses that lack animal ingredients, artificial colorants, flavorings, or scents, artificial preservatives, parabens, peroxides, or ethylene glycol – to name a few. Although this natural formula is most likely healthier, the product still had mixed reviews online. We’ll show you what’s good and bad.
Tom’s of Maine has a specific stripped-down formula they use for their Natural Antiplaque Tartar Control Plus Whitening Toothpaste (in Peppermint). To combat the buildup of plaque and tartar on the teeth, Tom’s of Maine included xylitol, which fights plaque, and zinc citrate (“derived from a naturally occurring mineral), which controls tartar. Silica, derived from sand, removes strains from teeth gradually over time and is the whitening component of the toothpaste. Finally, the peppermint flavor is made from natural peppermint oils, and isn’t artificially sweetened with saccharin. This toothpaste also comes in a non-fluoride formula, for those who prefer not to have fluoride supplemented in their toothpaste.
Customers praised Tom’s for clearing the plaque off their teeth and preventing the build-up, but the reviews on taste were mixed. Some maintained the taste was natural and more refreshing, while others said it was too strong. (Tom’s does offer a 5-day taste-test, after which you can return the product if you don’t like the taste). Some were concerned that the silica ingredient was harmful to teeth, and others complained the toothpaste didn’t foam like other toothpastes (though this might not be a bad feature, just simply different than what consumers are used to). The whitening component was viewed satisfactorily.
Pros? Decent whitening, plaque control and removal of buildup. Cons? Doesn’t foam, doesn’t freshen breath. The taste depends on whether you prefer an artificial mint taste or a more natural taste. Also, don’t opt for Tom’s if your dentist recommends fluoride in your toothpaste – as this has none. Tom’s is available in nationwide drug stores, as well as at www.drugstore.com or their flagship website, www.tomsofmaine.com. Happy brushing!
Mentadent Fluoride Toothpaste Advanced Cleaning
Mentadent, a dental hygiene product company, offers various toothpastes for different types of teeth, including a basic fluoride toothpaste for advanced cleaning.
What’s primarily unique about this toothpaste is its packaging. Unlike other toothpastes, Mentadent’s toothpaste comes in a box containing two 5.25-oz refills of toothpaste. This way, you can use the refills separately – you can take one with you for traveling or put one in the toothpaste dispenser. This way, you can save on the cost of buying toothpaste in a tube each time it runs out, and just purchase the refills.
This toothpaste contains baking soda and peroxide to deep-clean teeth, as well as remove plaque and slow tartar build-up. There’s also fluoride included in the formula, to help strengthen teeth and fight against cavities. Finally, Mentadent’s toothpaste proclaims to provide long-lasting fresh breath.
So what do the customer reviews tell us? According to multiple reviews on Amazon.com, most customers with the level of clean the toothpaste provided and claimed the taste was not too strong but still gave a “fresh” feeling. One user said that he’s been using Mentadent for 10-12 years, and has only one cavity since.
The complaints? From the reviews, we’ve gathered that this toothpaste is hard to find in typical retail stories and drugstores like Target and Wal-Mart. Most users have to order offline. Also, the surplus packaging with the refills and the dispenser had some users saying they were concerned about the environmental/waste repercussions.
Mentadent is overall a great choice for toothpaste, but you’ll likely have to order it online. On Amazon.com, a Mentadent 3-pack is retailed at about $19 USD, while a single is about $7 USD. If you’re interested in purchasing this toothpaste, your best bet is to use a search engine and search “Mentadent Fluoride Toothpaste Advanced Cleaning” and find the price and site that’s right for you. Happy brushing!
Arm & Hammer Dental Care Toothpaste
Arm & Hammer, a household product company, offers baking soda-based products that clean many surfaces – including teeth! Arm & Hammer manufactures baking soda-based toothpastes to offer a deep-feeling clean to their customers. We’ve reviewed one particular toothpaste here, the Extra Whitening with Baking Soda & Peroxide (in Fresh Mint).
Arm & Hammer’s Extra Whitening toothpaste is infused with baking soda and peroxide to help scrub away stains and whiten your teeth. It contains the most refined baking soda so that while it removes plaque, it doesn’t disrupt sensitive gums or teeth due to its low-abrasive formula. Finally, it contains fluoride to help prevent future cavities and to control tartar.
Though Amazon.com only listed 2 customer reviews, both praised the toothpaste as providing a refreshing clean. These users also said the taste was not too strong, but still provided fresh breath and a general clean feeling. A large group of reviewers, however, on Rateitall.com, stated that the abrasiveness of the toothpaste really jeopardized the cleanliness quality. Users said that the baking soda formula stripped the enamel on their teeth, making their teeth feel more sensitive and their lips feel swollen and chapped. Some users also debated whether the toothpaste actually whitened their teeth.
You can find this toothpaste in basic department or drug stores. The toothpaste is retailed at about $4 in basic drugstores, for one single tube. On Amazon.com, you can order a 6-pack for $18.58 USD. Here’s our advice on this paste: If you want a strong clean and don’t have sensitive teeth or gums, this might be a decent choice for you. If you’re known to be particular with your paste, you might want to keep searching for something with a gentler mix. (Users recommended Enamel Care or Sensodine, if you can afford to switch brands or are looking for others to try). Good luck and happy brushing!
